Pyramid is based on the classic card game with the same name. In Pyramid the aim is to clear as many card lay-ups as possible in the allotted time. The cards are placed in a Pyramid form and you have to remove them one by one before you run through your deck of cards. Succeed and you move to the next round. You can play as many rounds as you can until you run out of time or you are unable to solve the lay-up.
Rules
When the game starts 28 cards are placed out in a pyramid formation that you have to clear away to move on to the next round. Below the pyramid you have 24 cards in the deck.
To clear away cards from the pyramid they have to be one value higher or lower than the open card of the pile. So on a 4 you can place either a 3 or a 5, and so on. The Ace is counted as both 1 and 13 and can be placed on a 2 or a King.
Cards also have to be free to be removable, only the cards that have no other card lying upon can be moved. If a card can be moved it will be highlighted. You can continue to move cards to the pile as long as you find another free card in the pyramid that can be placed on the open top card of the pile. If there is no card that you can move from the pyramid you have to go through the deck by placing one card at the time face up on the pile until you can find a move.
Any free card from the pyramid, regardless of value, may be placed on the wild card. You have only one, so use it carefully.
If you manage to clear the whole pyramid you will move on to the next round where you get a different lay-up. If you have not cleared the pyramid when you have worked your way through all cards in the deck, and have used up your wild card, the game is over. You can complete as many lay-ups as you can within the time limit, so moving fast will allow you to progress further in the game.
Strategy
Make sure you analyse how the cards are placed higher up in the pyramid before just removing the first one you see. Checking how you can achieve the longest round for each card in the deck is key to getting a high score. Saving time is important, but not more important than picking the right route through the pyramid.
There are 2 things that really help generate a high score:
- Achieving long runs of consecutive cleared cards, one or several per round. This raises the value of the cleared cards.
- Advancing many levels to get the level multiplier effect as well as the end of level bonuses. If you can manage to do both you will get the really high scores.
